It is Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness; He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; He is the beauty to which you are so attracted; it is He who provoked you that thirst for fullness that will not let you settle for compromise; it is He who urges you to shed the masks of a false life; it is He who reads in your heart your most genuine choices, the choices that others try to stifle.
St. John Paul II
RCIA to OCIA
RCIA is now called OCIA
During the November 2021 U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops meeting, the U.S. Bishops changed the name of the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) to the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). This name change reflects the fact that the process includes multiple rites and the Catholic Church's desire to return to the most accurate and precise English translations from previous Latin texts.
Are you interested in the Catholic Faith?
OCIA is the process by which one learns the truths of the Catholic Church.
Sacred Heart offers the OCIA process to those who wish to begin a new journey in faith. We invite you to learn what the Church teaches, what it means to be part of the Catholic Christian community, what we believe, and how we celebrate and pray. Here you will find a safe space to ask those perplexing and difficult questions that you may have about the Church.
The OCIA process is for unbaptized adults, seeking to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist (Holy Communion). Baptized adults from another Christian tradition who wish to become members of the Catholic Church. Adults who were baptized in the Catholic Church at a young age and who now wish to complete the sacraments of Initiation by receiving Confirmation and Eucharist. It is also for those who want to learn more about their faith or are merely curious about what Catholicism is.
All are welcome.
