The faith development of a child is a journey shared between families and the parish community. Our Catholic Church believes parents are the primary providers of formation in the Catholic faith for their children. The home is where a child first experiences the Catholic faith. Parents teach by the example they set. Sacred Heart works in partnership with parents in order to assist them in living out their vocation as the primary educators of faith for their children.
Sacred Heart's religious education for students K through High School proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ by planning programs and supporting ministries which strengthen the Catholic Faith.
The program used this year is: "Faith and Life Series" from Ignatius Press for our K through 8th grade. Our High School and Confirmation Candidates will be using the Didache Series. Both programs offer a thorough grounding in Catholic doctrine. In light of salvation history, students learn about the Sacraments, morality, social teaching, and the Church's life and mission. They will receive a solid foundation of the Catholic faith and will emerge confident in their faith as they grow in their relationship with God.
The desire of our formation team is to provide parents, children, and teens the tools they need to grow in their faith and become faithful disciples of Christ.
Our Parish creates a program of lifelong faith formation that is centered in the domestic church and flows out of the events of the Sacred Liturgy. It embraces all ages and generations and promotes participation in the life of the Church.
